Leave the Map as a name is all about leaving your comfort zone or stepping off the beaten path and living a life of adventure.
OUR TRUE NORTH IS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO THINK AND TRAVEL WITH A PURPOSE. The purpose; to understand different cultures, become educated about sustainability, and gain a vast knowledge and respect for the planet we live on.
Our very first conversation started around a map on the first day we met 7 years ago. Our love of travel, photography and the curiosity to experience new things is what lit a spark in our relationship right from the start and we knew we had something special. From that moment on we spent every free weekend and any time off from work taking road trips up the coast of California or day trips in LA. We were hooked right away.
A little over a year ago, after hours spent on the road and nights spent contemplating why we were still grinding away at our 9-5, we decided to take the leap and turn our passion of travel and photography into more than just a side hustle. We chose to leave a comfortable life in Los Angeles for something much smaller….a 10 foot van! While we were both making good money at our LA jobs, our happiness was lacking and we knew our true calling was waiting for us on the road.
Every time we traveled together, we felt alive and that our life-purpose had been found - and every time we arrived home, we felt like we were sinking into a depression. How could we make this life a full-time reality? What steps could we take to turn our passions into a full fledged business?
After many late night talks, brainstorms and sleepless nights, we decided just to start and take a leap into the unknown. There have plenty of bumps along the way and ups and downs like any business but the journey has been better than we could have ever imagined and we haven’t looked back since.
Our goal is to teach others to do the same, and all it takes it the courage to take that first step. Through our travels and educational resources we teach you the steps that we took to push through the fear of the unknown, to jump out of your comfort zones with a vengeance, and to experience all that the world has to offer; because life is just too damn short to stay in one place.
We’re still learning and experiencing everyday and we hope that we can take you along for the ride.
